Indie Spotlight: Oppicop

Oppicop is a simplistic distance game.  It is free-to-play on Google Play Games and the App Store!

Premise:

(Abridged Description from App Page)

Oppi is a mixed up helicopter. He's the star of Oppicop, the app that combines familiar game-play with an infuriating but addictive twist. Collect the stars as you fly though the skies, the further you travel the more those stars are worth. Look out for bonus value stars and invincibility stars. Totally addictive!

Visuals:

The visuals tend to be very simplistic.  Perhaps a little too simplistic; there isn't really much flair to the graphics at all.  Just a bunch of basic shapes put together without much else done to them.

I wouldn't say the visuals are bad, just somewhat un-inspired.  Despite this, they get the job done.

Sound/music:

I have mixed feelings on the sound design in this game.

While the sound effects are hilarious at first, they seem somewhat repetitive.

There is no music in this game, I feel like some simple and quiet theme music would help the game be a little more entertaining.

Menus/Interface:

Menus are pretty cute and self explanatory.

Gameplay/Controls:

Very simple gameplay.  Avoid obstacles and collect stars to gain the highest score possible.  There are 4 speed settings, each one getting progressively harder.

To move your helicopter, tap on the LEFT side of the screen to go RIGHT, and on the RIGHT to go LEFT.  A little bit of a reversal going on here, so make sure you are paying attention.

This gets somewhat tedious after the first couple runs, especially because you make no progress until you reach a checkpoint 10 times.

Level design:

Level design seems to be somewhat un-inspired.  In fact, I have only gotten to after the 2nd checkpoint, and the levels already seem extremely difficult.

I'm just wondering how hard the last 4 sections of the game are if the second section is already impossible.

Summary:

A cute little distance game with hilarious sound-effects and simple gameplay.

Good for a couple minutes here and there, but it tends to get very tedious after a short time.
