10 Problems with Pokemon GO at Launch

The cultural phenomenon Pokemon GO released in July of 2016 and has quickly taken the world by storm.  Gamers all over the globe are capturing Pokemon in their own world like they have always dreamed.

While I am personally having a blast with the game, there is no denying that the game in its current state has many issues.

The Pokémon Puzzle: Is Pokémon overrated?

Ah Pokémon, the game series that had the world captivated in the 90's and early 2000's, and still remains an iconic part of our pop culture today.  Almost everyone knows who Pikachu is, and people still buy tons and tons of Pokémon games with every new iteration of the series.

The ever popular franchise made its debut on the Gameboy in 1996 in Japan.  In the beginning there were only 151 Pokémon, and as of Pokémon X an Y, there are 718 (I think) Pokémon.  Quite an overwhelming amount if you are new to the series.

But this presents the question: does Pokémon deserve all of this praise and nostalgia?  Is it really all that amazing?

Bioshock: A Deeper Analysis (Part 1)

Hey all,

If you have read my previous Bioshock Review, you would know that I am an avid fan of the game.  As it was only a review, I could not go too in-depth with the game's intriguing underlying themes, which was honestly a little bit of a shame, as this game is one of the most intellectually stimulating pieces of literature I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

Seeing that there are a lot of large ideas to discuss in Bioshock, I will be writing a series of in-depth articles on the game and its many underlying themes.

This series of articles will be assuming you have already played the game yourself, so there will be a LOT of SPOILERS.

So, lets get to it!

The Sonic Conundrum (Part 2)

In the first part of my Sonic Conundrum article, we discussed how Sonic was never necessarily a good game when he first started out, and how the critical acclaim he received for his classic games was somewhat undeserved.  If you would like to read the first part, you can find it Here.

For this second part of the article, we will be discussing how 'modern' or 3D rendered sonic games are actually more compelling and more appealing than their 2D side-scrolling predecessors.

The Sonic Conundrum (Part 1)

Ah, Sonic, one of the most beloved video game characters of all time.

Created by Sega in 1991 as an answer to Nintendo's ever-popular Super Mario, Sonic's rocket to stardom was quick and swift.  His first game, Sonic the Hedgehog, met with overwhelmingly strong reception, and since then, he has always been a popular icon of gaming.

In recent years, Sonic hasn't had the best luck with his games, some of them being complete glitchy messes, and others have gotten decent reviews, but he hasn't seemed to been able to recapture the magic of his first games...  Or has he?

Saying that Sonic has fallen from his 'previous glory' would indicate that his games were actually good at some point, right?  So this presents the question:  Were Sonic's games ever good?

Windows / MAC OS / Linux / PS4
Hello, and welcome to the final review of Firewatch!

Firewatch is a brand new gaming experience which was produced by Panic Inc., and developed by Campo Santo.

Released in February of 2016, this game has garnered a lot of attention for itself.

Firewatch Low FPS fix for Nvidia cards

Hello all,

So, I was experiencing low FPS while playing Firewatch.  Sadly, I only found out the solution to my problem after I finished the game.  But, lucky for you, I now have the solution and I have made for your convenience a
short visual tutorial on how to fix it!

On my computer, Firewatch was using the integrated graphics card instead of the dedicated Nvidia card to process graphics.  This will show you how to switch to using your dedicated Nvidia card for any of you less techy individuals.

Is Pac-Man Overrated?

Please welcome the gaming icon and the legend!
Iiiiiiits Pac-Man everyone!

Pac-Man is the arcade game which was released by Bandai Namco in 1980 to much critical acclaim.  Pac-Man quickly solidified its place in the hearts of gamers everywhere.  This was probably due to the simplistic game concept and easily recognizable shape of the ghosts and Pac-Man himself.

Game Review: Bioshock (PC/MAC OS/X-BOX 360/Playstation 3)

Bioshock is the instant classic released by 2K Games in 2007. Bioshock showed us that yes, video games are great literature. It also showed us that video games can tell compelling stories which could not be told effectively in another medium, that video games really can make you think, and that video games are indeed art.
